O Projeto Rizoma é uma iniciativa da HOA que convida projetos independentes de arte e cultura a ocuparem, por temporadas, o espaço expositivo na Barra Funda, em São Paulo. Mais do que um gesto de hospitalidade, o Rizoma é um movimento de descentralização. Em tempos em que monopólios e narrativas únicas moldam o acesso, a produção e a circulação simbólica, acreditamos que parcerias horizontais entre iniciativas autônomas são essenciais para a vitalidade e a democracia da arte brasileira. O Rizoma nasce da urgência de manter os espaços vivos, pulsando fora dos centros hegemônicos de poder, apostando em formas alternativas de ressurgência e continuidade. A HOA convida projetos que compartilhem esse desejo de alargar os alicerces do sistema, oferecendo espaço, escuta e estrutura para que novas constelações artísticas floresçam. É uma abertura, mas também um chamado à troca. Ao acolher essas presenças, a HOA também se deixa atravessar por novas perspectivas, metodologias e práticas curatoriais que ajudam a reorganizar seus próprios caminhos. Em um tempo em que o sistema da arte se estreita sob o domínio de poucos, o Rizoma aposta em alianças em rede como forma de sustento, reinvenção e reimaginação do comum. Não se trata apenas de ceder um espaço, mas de criar um território compartilhado onde ideias circulem, vínculos se fortaleçam e estruturas se renovem. Acreditamos que só pela reciprocidade é possível manter vivo um movimento. O Rizoma é o redespertar da partilha — como quem partilha percurso: com escuta, afeto e disposição para redesenhar o que entendemos como presença.

The Rizoma Project is an initiative by HOA that invites independent art and culture projects to temporarily occupy our exhibition space in Barra Funda, São Paulo. More than a gesture of hospitality, Rizoma is a movement of decentralization. In times when monopolies and singular narratives shape access, production, and symbolic circulation, we believe that horizontal partnerships between autonomous initiatives are essential for the vitality and democracy of Brazilian art.

Rizoma arises from the urgency of keeping spaces alive—pulsing outside hegemonic centers of power—and bets on alternative forms of resurgence and continuity. HOA welcomes projects that share this desire to expand the foundations of the system, offering space, attentive listening, and structure so that new artistic constellations may flourish.

It is an opening, but also a call for exchange. By welcoming these presences, HOA also allows itself to be transformed—crossed by new perspectives, methodologies, and curatorial practices that help reorganize its own paths. At a time when the art system narrows under the dominance of a few, Rizoma invests in networked alliances as a form of sustenance, reinvention, and reimagination of the commons.

This is not merely about offering a venue—it is about creating a shared territory where ideas circulate, bonds are strengthened, and structures are renewed. We believe that only through reciprocity can we keep a movement alive. Rizoma is a reawakening of shared journeys—marked by listening, affection, and a willingness to redraw what we understand as presence.

Para inaugurar esse novo ciclo, temos o prazer de receber a plataforma curatorial ORA, fundada em 2024 por Carollina Carreteiro. O ORA é uma iniciativa de caráter itinerante, dedicada a exposições que entrelaçam práticas artísticas contemporâneas e referências históricas, sempre em diálogo com os contextos culturais e espaciais em que se inserem. Com atuação já em diferentes espaços temporários no centro de São Paulo, o ORA propõe outras formas de fazer curadoria, ampliando os modos de inserção institucional e circulação de artistas de forma ética e colaborativa. Na estreia do Rizoma, o ORA apresenta a exposição “A Estranha Ordem das Coisas”, individual do artista Eduardo Nazarian, com texto crítico assinado por Thierry Freitas. A mostra reúne uma instalação inédita do artista, articulando cerâmica, porcelana e pintura com pigmentos naturais coletados no sul da Bahia. A prática de Nazarian se ancora na escuta radical da matéria: o tempo da natureza, a transformação da argila, a singularidade de cada cor e textura emergem como linguagem sensível. Em suas obras, o gesto manual e o ambiente se encontram em um processo que valoriza a irregularidade, o silêncio e a imprevisibilidade como forças criativas. A exposição marca um momento importante em sua trajetória, evidenciando uma abertura a novos processos, deslocamentos e formas de percepção — uma constelação material que transforma o espaço em paisagem sensorial.

To inaugurate this new cycle, we are pleased to welcome the curatorial platform ORA, founded in 2024 by Carollina Carreteiro. ORA is a nomadic initiative dedicated to exhibitions that interweave contemporary artistic practices with historical references, always in dialogue with the cultural and spatial contexts in which they unfold. With previous presentations in temporary spaces in downtown São Paulo, ORA proposes alternative curatorial approaches that expand the possibilities of institutional insertion and circulation of artists through ethical and collaborative frameworks.

For the first edition of Rizoma, ORA presents the solo exhibition “The Strange Order of Things” by Eduardo Nazarian, featuring a critical text by Thierry Freitas. The show brings together a new installation by the artist, combining ceramics, porcelain, and paintings made with natural pigments collected in southern Bahia.

Nazarian’s practice is anchored in a radical attunement to matter: the time of nature, the transformation of clay, and the uniqueness of each color and texture emerge as a sensitive language. In his work, manual gesture and environment meet in a process that embraces irregularity, silence, and unpredictability as generative forces.

This exhibition marks an important moment in his trajectory, revealing an openness to new processes, displacements, and modes of perception — a material constellation that transforms the space into a sensory landscape.
